points shmoints

I had a realization this week, i have been more focused on the points aspect of this game lately than the actual 'get healthy' part.

this is bad.

You see, i have had almost perfect points this entire 'game,' probably because i thought of it as a game. I do want to get healthy, i have this lofty goal of losing an additional 20lbs before my 26th birthday (in Jan) so that at some point while i am 25 i can weigh 125--which i have not been since my senior year of high school after i had a serious leg surgery and lost a ton of weight (mostly all the muscle in my right leg... so not fat haha). But right now i have been focused on points because well, i am super competitive and to honest pretty poor (that's what happens when you are self employed and find out you owe copious amounts of money to uncle sam).

Do you know what you gain from this 'game' if you only deal with points? Days when you have eaten crap (like eating out but not eating things that count against you like treats and soda--oh dr. pepper, how i miss you!) and then you realize it is 8:45 and you still need to have your fruit and two more servings of veggies so you throw together a smoothie with a salads worth of spinach in it and down it before the dreaded clock tolls 9.

That is how last week went and this week i am on my first vacation since Christmas so this could get interesting...

Anyway, if you have been like me, give yourself a stern talking to and remember that this is a game but also a game with healthy in the title.



and on a separate note, if you hate fruit like me and haven't tried smoothies, they are way better than trying to choke down a whole banana. I do half a banana, a handful of diced strawberries, a handful of frozen grapes, and two handfuls of spinach. Nothing extra added and it is pretty tasty.

    1. oh how sweet of you to not get points for your comment :) haha this week i have been better so far so i guess that reminder to myself was a good thing. I hope things are going well for you this week!
