Greetings!
Greetings! I'm Melissa Porter a stay-at-home-mom of two active toddlers! Boston is 3 and Steele is 1.5 years old. My life currently consists of making big messes with my boys and it's exactly what I enjoy doing!! I have a 'play-with-purpose' group I run twice a week from my home which consists of lots of toddlers playing with purpose. I plan to teach preschool out of my home next year for my three year old and continue to make more messes. :)
Previously, I was a middle school social studies teacher for a local charter school here in Davidson, North Carolina and currently contract with them as a mentor teacher for curriculum planning.
I am originally from SLC, UT, met my husband, Dave, at Utah State University and have lived in NC since 2003. My hobbies have really changed since becoming a mom and probably always will. Right now, I love anything that has to do with teaching (can you tell?!) How to teach better/more effectively, brain research on learning, current teaching practices for my toddlers, etc. I'm one of the few people in the world that would prefer to read a text book and take notes. I just love learning!
I'm in this challenge because too many days I 'grab and go' when I really need to make healthier choices for myself.
I look forward to getting to know all of you better!
Happy Monday!
Melissa
